Our house was a bit of an adjustment for these fellows. They are used to more TV and video games than we have available, so they played board games some and read a little bit and played outside a bit and wandered aimlessly some, so we went to Cove Fort, then came home and had some movie time.
On Friday, Brady, Ellie, and Anthony entertained themselves with bikes, the sandbox, and the neighbor girl. Bryan entertained Kristofer and Jared by whooping them at "Clue." And I packed up the stuff to go camping. We went swimming as soon as the pool opened and caused quite a stir at the pool. We swam for almost 2 hours, then walked home, loaded up the truck, and headed up the mountains. We were worried about finding a spot because we didn't even leave until about 5:30 and it was the ATV Jamboree in Fillmore; however, we were really lucky. There was no one at Copley's Cove and we had the whole area to ourselves except for the ATV's that went zooming by now and then. We set up camp and then had a very late, very yummy dinner and s'mores.
Bryan took the kids fishing in the stream while I took pictures and supervised kids who were waiting for a turn to fish with the lone fishing pole. A few fish bit, but nothing very big or worth keeping.
After a good sleep (as far as camping and kids goes), and a good breakfast, we cleaned up and went for a hike. That was not a popular idea with some of the nephews, but we insisted. The idea became even less popular when they realized that they would have to wade across the stream, several times. They thought the water was like ice, Brady and Ellie loved it. We hiked for a little while (too far, some thought) and then we turned back. We stopped to play at the stream and, wonder of wonders, Kristofer decided he liked the water. We couldn't get him out of it! He went all over and even found deep spots to play in. He couldn't admit that he liked it, but he did. Amazing!
After our hike, we headed back to camp. Bryan and the kids tried their hands at fishing again while I made lunch. Everyone except Anthony (poor kid) got at least a bite. They were really excited. It was Jared's first fish, and it kept getting bigger, both size and number caught, each time he told about it! A true fisherman!
It was a fun visit. We're glad they came and we're glad they went! We are looking forward to Sunday, a day of rest!
