The January Wrap Up

What a crazy, happy month January has been.  January is a special month at the Randall house.  Three of our five family members celebrate their birthdays.  We are grateful for each one of them.
Bryan's birthday started out the party madness.  He was a good sport about having his special day a little bit early since there were other plans on the day of his actual birthday.  We surprised him with a sweet wheel barrow and a new DVD player.  We are so grateful for such a great guy to lead our family.

We had some silly times this month as well.  Afton, really, is quite the character and keeps the rest of us laughing all the time.  She loves to clown around and be silly.  She also wants to be a part of everything that Brady and Ellie are doing.  One day in our history book we studied about Columba, an ancient missionary to Scotland.  The first group of people this missionary taught was known as the "Picts" because they liked to paint themselves.  Brady and Ellie markered themselves and then did Afton just for the fun of it.  They looked like some crazy Picts!!!!

Bryan's real birthday was overtaken by the Pinewood Derby.  He and Brady had some adventures and good times making Brady's first Pinewood Derby car.  The races were fun.  We won some and we lost some, but Brady won the award for the "Sportiest Looking Car."  He can't wait for next year and is already making plans for his next car.  Bryan's not quite as enthused!

One Christmas present this year was a set of Keva Planks.  They have inspired Bryan and Ellie to great creativity.  So amazing what you can make with such simple blocks!

Afton's birthday was delayed because of technical difficulties. One of her presents just was not ready on time.  So her birthday was spread over a few days.  She didn't seem to mind, but she did keep wondering when her "hoo-hoo" and her "papas" were going to come.
She was thrilled to get new clothes from her Randall grandparents!

The "Hoo-hoo" finally came on Brady's birthday, along with a Pirate Ship.  It was so fun to see such excited and happy kids when they got out of bed and saw their cakes.  They loved them.  Afton had to bring her baby into the kitchen a few times throughout the day to show her the cakes.  It was really cute!

We were so glad to have Grandma and Grandpa Lillywhite, Supe, and Grandma Kurtz, and our neighbor, Jerry Rupe, come help us eat dinner, eat cake, and celebrate.  Afton was super happy about her presents.  She was beautiful, chatty, and ready to ride.  Bryan did such an awesome job on her horse.  It will be finished soon.  He just needs to stain it and add the mane and tail.  We are glad our neighbor, Brother Rupe was willing to help.  Afton knows him now and often talks about and prays for "Rupe."  She also got some books that she was really excited about later on.  She talked to "Papa" on the phone the entire time she was riding her horse, even though the "papas" were sitting right there in the living room.  So funny!
We sure are happy to have this cute and silly little girl in our family.  She makes us all so happy!  She is sweet and smart and so lovable!  Happy Birthday, sweet Afton!

Brady had some great reactions to some of his gifts.  He's way excited to be getting a magazine in the mail each month from the Lillywhites.  He's already built one of the wooden tractors from the Randalls.  Surprisingly, he about jumped out of his chair when he got a Cub Scout shirt.  Legos, of course, were thrilling.  The funniest thing, though, was when he got tithing bank from Grandma Kurtz with a little lock on it.  He had a great idea of where to keep the key so he wouldn't lose it.  He locked the box and then put the key inside.  It took him a minute to realize what he had done.  It was so funny!  We loved it!

Brady is such a fun guy to have around.  We sure love him.  He is creative and smart and starting to turn into a book worm.  He builds amazing Lego creations and has the greatest laugh.  He is enthusiastic about a lot of things and is a great worker.  We love him tons and are very proud of him.  We can't wait for his baptism.  Happy Birthday, Brady love.
