On Saturday, January 15, we were thrilled that Bryan had a day off after a few really busy days at work. We decided to take advantage of the time off and the beautiful weather and head up the mountains. We drove up Cedar Canyon and enjoyed seeing the "Winter Beards" (icicles) along the cliffs. Then we pulled over to see how deep the snow was. Ellie loved the deep snow. She ran around and around, pretending to be a bluebird. She didn't want to leave. Brady like the tunnel we found, but thought it was a bit too cold outside for much frolicking.
Since we were already up on the mountain, we drove over to Panguitch Lake to see the ice fishing and see what a frozen lake is like. The kids couldn't believe they were walking on a lake. We stuck our hands in some deserted fishing holes. We talked to a fisherman who told us the ice was about 15 inches thick. We watched him drill a new hole in the ice. We saw tracks in the snow from 4 wheelers and snow mobiles. Ellie didn't want to leave the ice. She thought she was really cool because she was walking on a lake.
This was a fun last outing before the big baby day. It was great to spend time outside together and reading together in the truck as we drove. Now it's time to get ready for some life changes!
